Dating generally starts with flirting. When hanging out with your friends somewhere, you will notice a particular person trying to attract your attention by doing different things. You can know if a person is trying to flirt by symptoms like; arched eyebrows, winking, smiling, copying your posture, licking lips, crossing and uncrossing legs, blinking. The person will try touching in a nervous way, will be looking at you on the sly. And if some conversation starts then there will be a lot of laughter, the person will want to know personal details and want to know if there is any affair is going on, there will be quite a lot of whispering in the conversations. Oftentimes, these people resort to doing things stupid, to attract attention.

Lovers’ gaze

Flirting is a way to communicate that you are interested in a person and want to get into a romantic relationship. Some flirting is loud while some are subtle that are very hard to read and you wonder how to react. Some people flirt just for the fun of it without having any serious intent behind it. However, if the situation is right it has many possibilities, but if the situation is wrong it can lead to humiliation.

If the flirting is with serious intent then the flirting should be done in a subtle way with respect and tact. The flirting should not be aggressive and vulgar; there should not be any touching in a lewd manner. In fact your flirting should advertise your personality and so that the other person would be able to gauge your suitability and be eager to take the flirting to the next desirable level.

When you find someone flirting with you, determine whether it is in serious vein or just for fun. If you find it serious and like the person you can start thinking of ways to get to the first date. If you decide to go along with the person, you can respond to the flirting by doing some flirting yourself in order to establish a relationship. But be careful before responding, there are people who are habitual flirt and do that for the sake of it without bothering about the repercussion on the person you have targeted. When you flirt go about it in a creative way with some responsibility and make sure that you are honest about getting into a relationship and convey the same through flirting.

Lovers’ gaze

At some time into the start of a romance, you will be holding each others gaze for longer and longer periods before looking away. Girls are likely to use what are called ‘doe eyes’ or ‘bedroom eyes’, making their eyes wider. This transfers a state of vulnerability and also is a signal of submission. Wide baby eyes are nature’s way of asking for protection, you can observe them in many species all over the world.Watch what is being looked at. She looks at your lips, she wants to kiss. She looks at another part of your body means “I want to touch”.

Most likely this is accompanied by the pupils getting bigger by dilating. This is a very subtle signal that might be hard to catch in a dark
environment. But, it goes to show why lots of times dark eyed people are considered very attractive.

Leaning In

When someone leans his body towards you while in a conversation, it shows genuine interest. It also says “I would like to be closer to you”. At the same time it’s a good test to check the weather. If you enter someone’s private sphere by leaning toward him or her and your opposite doesn’t back off, that’s a good sign. Leaning can be a small sign, with just the head tilting ever so slightly or with the entire upper body.

But there is a limit, too. The closer you get to a person, the more intimate your body language will get. You will have to watch very closely how close you can get without the other person signals: Enough!

Because by moving too close to the other person, you enter into their personal body space. This clearly suggests that you would rather get even closer, like holding them in your arms or even more.

Along with that goes the way someone positions himself in front of your. By standing square-on to the women of your dreams you are
automatically blocking anyone else from joining the conversation. The signal to others is clear: Stay away.

Copying the image

What we often observe is imitating a person in some way. This shows “I am like you” or “I would like to be like you and be accepted”. The leader of a gang of youths slouches at a table and his peers will do so, too. The kids will use the same slang, gestures and dress code.

The Touch

A lot easier to observe and to notice is touching. This might start with ‘accidental’ brushing, soon to be followed by touching of ‘safe’ parts of the body such as arms, hands or back.

Take advantage and be careful!

If you take the time and look around in a bar or somewhere else where people meet, you are likely to observe lots of clear body language signals, non verbal communications that now make sense. Being able to read certain gestures and behaviours will give you an advantage while flirting. It is also a good idea to be informed about these things when you are about to enter a job interview, for instance.

You will detect motives and intentions behind these little things. But, you need to be careful. Body language is different from person to person.

There are patterns all right, but you are well advised not to jump to conclusions to fast. Just because “She” looks at you longer than a second does not automatically mean she’s yours for the night. It can just as well be because she can’t believe you chose this ridiculous tie with your denim shirt!
