True Romance Is Not A Myth

The tales in the romance novels are filled with men and women who truly enjoy being with each other and doing little things to show their love and dedication. Many people today think that true romance no longer exists-the woman's liberation movement has killed this forever. But, this is not so. It is alive and well and being demonstrated every day by people who love each other.

It is true that most men are not overly affectionate in public or in front of the guys, and for them to say "I love you" is a major problem for them. There is a country western song by Toby Keith where he sings about this. The lyrics goes "I'm just a man, that is the way I was made, I'm not good at saying what you need me to say.....it might go unsaid but it won't go undone."
Thinking hard about what these words mean to you. Men do not display affection the same way that women do, but they are romantic, in their own way. If you are looking for a man who is similar to the ones in the 'chick flicks' you will probably have to wait a long time. Or, if you think that the men in the romance novels are just wonderful, remember they are fictional characters based on the desires and fantasies of the author and the readers.

True romance is shown in the little things that we do for each other. Think back to when he unexpectedly brought you a candy bar that you love, a flower from the yard, a perfume sample from the department store, a toy or gadget from a conference he attended, called you in the middle of the day from work, snuggles up next to you to watch the evening news, or any other little thing he does that shows he is thinking about you.

There are also the bigger things that he does as a husband, lover, and father. He works, takes care of the yard, coaches the kids sports teams, remembers your birthday and anniversary (even the anniversary of when you met, when he proposed, the first kiss) and is always there when needed. Even the look he sends you from across the room can tells you that he is think about you, needs you and wants you-even when this is being said when you have just walked into the room after spending an hour in the flower garden weeding. You are sweaty and he still gives you an adoring look.

Maybe he does not express himself as well as you think he should, but you need to know how he tells you that he loves you-and even adores you. The words of the song say it all "it might go unsaid, but it won't go undone."

Open your eyes to what is right in front of you. Yes, true romance is alive and well if you know where to look for it.
